I have been spending the last few days backing up and burning and came across this picture taken earlier this year. It is Elizabeth waiting for me to get my lighting set up and camera ready to work on an assignment. I caught this and found it quite appealing and I think I would like to experiment more with the lighting like this and do more images like this. I really need to spend more time going over older pictures I have taken as I found several that I think I would like to see in print. A project for another day.
Lexie this afternoon modeled for Princess Naomi's Boutique, she did great and I seemed to manage the new camera ok, though I have got to invest in bigger cards. You should check out this boutique's Facebook page she has some really cute items. https://www.facebook.com/princessnaomisboutique
My first assignment talked about framing and why it matters. Wider shot or one from different angles can change the perspective of an image. It will determine how the lines, curves, light, shadow, shape and balance and other elements find a place to rest as the person viewing the image gazes upon these relationships.
The assignment called us to think about active and passive framing, though I think now I understand a little more about passive framing and probably should have had a tighter crop on the right in the first image, I did, I think understand about cropping and what is good and bad and why a photographer should work on full frame images, I did receive an A- on this assignment so not bad for my first photography assignment of the semester.
My whole project for my Fine Art class will be around Elizabeth her ballet and the figure form regarding the movements and positions of ballet. I am very excited about this project and I think I am off to a good creative start. I have chosen this tone as a creative affect, I found that the tone helps to emphasize the form, the cool tones help to express the way I feel when I watch any dance performance, calm and relaxed.what dancing does for me when I watch it, relaxed
Project for my Concept Class this semester: I get the chance to remake my Feeling with Flowers series that I did last semester so that I can work on the critiques given to me on my final exam! YES!
and my Fine Art Photography class will be the figure form, focused around the art of ballet and positions. I can't wait for this one.. though this means bribing Elizabeth, again, at least her demands are small... A 3DS game or usually a book! YIPPEE!
Though plans changed from a Superstitious themed birthday party with several of her friends, to a Chuck E Cheese party with two of her friends, I think fun was still had by all... at least the kids!
Though the cake decorating did not go as planned either, it still turned out pretty cute with the help of Wal-Mart bakery and some My Little Ponies from the toy aisle!
Awhile back I was asked to photograph a military Chief retiring from the military. Yesterday was the ceremony and for my first retirement ceremony I think it went well. I had to use my shoe mount flash due to the poor lighting and cloudy skies. But overall I am pleased of the turn out. These are just a few of the images taken yesterday. The rest can be viewed under the Friends and Clients tab: Gunn Retirement
Working on her posing and modeling, and showing her new made to match headband.
Working on my daughter's new website and Facebook page has been exhausting but fun and now it is up and running. Check it out! http://sparkleandshinedesigns.weebly.com/
I should have pictures to post tonight for Lexie's modeling page as she is working on doing that as well.
At least we are keeping busy and we are not about to slow down!
Like the Loch Ness and Bigfoot if you expect to have any proof that this creature pictured here exists you have to be quick with the camera.
As it worked out today, it's his birthday and also the day that Lifetouch scheduled his senior pictures for the year book. The High school he attends still do the traditional the boys in tuxedos and girls in those black wraps, or whatever they are.
Since we had to be out so early today and he was up anyway I told him that we would head over to the park for a few photos for his 17th birthday afterwards, so everyone could get a rare glimpse of this kid who has grown up so fast. Plus, I need updated pictures for the wall and his DVD slideshow that I am making as a graduation gift.
So here he is my baby, my first born, my 17 YEAR OLD!
A senior in high school this fall I still can't believe it, where has the time gone?
So many memories in what feels like only happened in a few seconds.
I am very thankful for those memories, the ones I hold close to me, the ones I have on video and of a course all the photos!
Hot and exhausting but we had fun and I got more pictures that I can't wait to have printed and hanging on the walls... I need more walls.
